Our Story
For years, sisters, Jessy and Cassy, dreamed of having a storefront location to not only sell their handmade creations and unique finds but also to provide a cost-effective option for other artisans to market their own creations. After our sister’s abrupt cancer diagnosis and death, we were driven to make this dream a reality. With the support of our parents, and a push from our sister, Angie, in heaven, The Norway Center Store was born in August of 2018.
A couple months later, in November 2018, our book Faith Over Fear: Walking Angie Home was published. Written by Jessy, Cassy, Anita, and Angie’s fiancé John, the book compiles Angie’s CaringBridge journals with our perspectives watching Angie fight. The book is raw, real, and vulnerable, providing honest views of how unknowns and loss affect each of us differently. The storefront provided an outlet to spread Angie’s message of Faith Over Fear even further and to connect with our vendors and customers on a different level, building a community of support where we can lean into each other. Seeing the impact of our story, inspired us to help others harness their own stories. Gritty Faith Magazine is the next chapter of honoring Angie’s legacy by encouraging others to be bold in their faith, fight for their peace and live with Faith Over Fear.
The goal of Gritty Faith is to ignite authentic connections to bring people one step closer to God. Our “meet you where you are at” philosophy, combined with vulnerable, real conversation, provides an unintimidating environment for all people to grow in their faith.
Through our magazine, we highlight the stories of fighters and survivors, dream chasers, and determined warriors – the stories of people just like you and me who have been through hell and refuse to live there. It is our hope that this magazine will land in the hands of those who need it most. That one day, a copy will be sitting on a coffee table in the waiting room of that dreaded appointment, or a park bench or bus seat next to the person that is ready to give up, or in the mailbox of someone lonely and aching for hope and love, and on that day we pray these stories are a God Thing. We pray that sharing these real life experiences of faith over fear are exactly what is needed to get someone through a dire moment and take one step closer to God.
Through our Gritty Faith Box, we honor the work of small makers, artists, and authors. As a compliment to each issue, a subscription box is curated to support the magazine’s message, filled with useful products to help keep your faith at the forefront of your mind and help you be a God Thing to others.
We firmly believe that authentic connections can change the world. We openly talk about how hard life is while offering tactical advice on how to rely on God by sharing the stories of those in the trenches. Our purpose is to spark a movement where authentic connections are encouragement to live life fully, despite fear and struggles; where raw, real conversations help you find grace in your experiences and show you how to fight for your peace, leading you one step closer to God.
